The 18th All-Russian Symposium on Combustion and Explosion
The 18th All-Russian Symposium on Combustion and Explosion was held in Suzdal on September 20–25, 2026. Dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Academician Nikolay Semenov, the symposium brought together researchers and industry specialists working in combustion and explosion physics, energetic materials, shock-wave processes and experimental diagnostics.
Special Systems. Photonics took part in both the technical program and the exhibition activities, presenting a dedicated demonstration area focused on laser-based diagnostics and instrumentation for high-speed processes.
One of the key solutions presented was the PDV system for velocity measurements based on the optical Doppler shift. The SSP PDV series is designed for surface-velocity measurements in shock-wave and detonation experiments, dynamic material testing and other applications involving rapidly changing processes. The demonstration area also featured pulsed laser systems, supercontinuum sources, optical amplifiers, infrared pyrometers, thermal imaging cameras and spectroscopic instrumentation.
As part of the session on experimental diagnostics of fast processes in reactive media, the company presented the review talk “Pulsed Lasers for Functional Materials and Surface Velocity Measurement Systems”. The presentation covered the use of pulsed laser sources and optical velocity measurement techniques in experimental and applied research.
Throughout the symposium, our team discussed practical instrumentation requirements with researchers and engineers, including equipment selection, experimental setup development and integration of individual instruments into existing measurement systems.
Participation in the symposium provided an opportunity to address current challenges in high-speed experimental diagnostics and to present laser and optical solutions that can be configured for specific research and industrial applications.
